Our Story

Pastor Brandon Cannon dreamed of planting a church with a simple goal: help people connect with God in a church where they felt loved, valued, and part of something bigger than themselves. With the help of the Dream Team—34 people committed to seeing this dream become a reality—Real Life Church began on February 5, 2012. That first Sunday, almost 200 attended at the Great Escapes Movie Theater.

Pastor Brandon focused on reaching out to the non-churched community and building relationships through life groups meeting throughout the city. The life-giving message of the Gospel, the passion and joy of Sunday Celebrations, and the simple style of Real Life Church connected to others in an amazing way. In its first year, the church grew and over 100 people committed their lives to Christ. At the same time, the church helped in planting other churches through an organization called the ARC.

In 2013, the church relocated to a store front space on Scottsville Road and continued to grow.

In 2015, Real Life Church once again expanded it’s space by acquiring the lot next door and immediately began renovating. We currently have moved into our new auditorium and children’s area as the renovation continues.

In the Fall of 2017, RLC began the renovation process again to make more room for our children and student ministries.

Real Life Church offers contemporary, biblically-driven worship services that are alive with energy and creativity, as well as excellent childcare, exciting children’s and student ministries, and dynamic life groups.
